DESCRIPTION:Rare Gases (RG=He\, Ne\, Ar\, Kr\, Xe) are ubiquitous in Earth
 \, solar system planets\,\nstars and interstellar medium so understanding 
 them is necessary to understand the\ncomposition and evolution of the univ
 erse. From a technological point of view RGs\nare also important because t
 hey present remarkable mechanical and reactivity\nproperties that have bee
 n exploited in hydrostatic pressure-transmitter medium\napplications in hi
 gh-pressure experiments and synthesis processes.\nAt normal P-T conditions
 \, RGs are considered among the most simple systems\nbecause they posses c
 losed-shell electronic structure which prevent them from\nreacting with ot
 her atomic species and conducting electricity. Nevertheless\, in both\nlow
  P-T and high P-T regimes RGs exhibit very intriguing behaviour which defi
 es\nand challenges both classical and modern physics conceptions [1].\nIn 
 this talk\, I will review recent theoretical work done on He and RG-He mix
 tures\nunder pressure [2\,3]. Key ideas of the computational approaches us
 ed on these\ninvestigations\, namely density functional theory (DFT) and t
 he diffusion Monte Carlo\nmethod (DMC)\, will be also highlighted. In part
 icular\, I will talk about the phase\ndiagram and physical properties of N
 e(He)2\, a compound which is observed to\nstabilize in the MgZn2 Laves str
 ucture at low P and for which we recently have\npredicted a series of soli
 d-solid phase transitions induced by effect of pressure. We\nalso have con
 ducted investigations on the Ar(H2)2 system [4] where it has been\nsuggest
 ed possible chemical-induced metallization of hydrogen at compressions\nal
 ready within the reach of present diamond-anvill-cell (DAC) facilities (P~
 175GPa).\nInterestingly\, based on preliminary DFT and ab initio molecular
  dynamics results\, we\npredict a new solid-solid phase boundary on the ph
 ase diagram of this compound and\nunravel a novel type of melting behaviou
 r at extreme P-T conditions\n\n[1] C. Cazorla et al.\, New J. of Phys. 11\
